*Associate memberships - As per the By-Law Change voted in at the November 2011 AGM, there was changes to the associate membership area, it is now re-named: Non-Practicing Membership.
There is no online Non-practicing membership payment this year-you must fill out form. There will be online renewal for 2013.
5.5.1 Associate Student Membership may be granted to an individual who:
(a) is currently a student in an approved Animal Health Technology/Veterinary Technology program; and
(b) submits written acceptance of the Code of Ethics; and.
5.5.2 An Associate Student Member shall enjoy the rights and privileges of active membership, except the granting of the right and license to practice as a Veterinary Technologist in Saskatchewan and the right to vote in any proceedings of the Association, to hold office in the Association and the right to obtain support from the Association in any legal action which may be brought against him or which may appear.
CODE OF ETHICS
A Code of Ethics places a group into a self-regulating body and brings that group from a vocation to an occupation with professional standards.
A Code of Ethics cannot be created by resolution or formed overnight, but is founded on standard of behaviour for the enrichment of the associates and those with whom they have affiliation, or betterment of their clientele.
GENERAL DEPORTMENT
Complete honesty and integrity is expected of all members.
It is the duty of all members of the Association to conduct themselves in a said manner in accordance with this Code of Ethics.
No member shall indulge in an illegal Veterinary Practice or encourage others to participate in such practice, and it is the duty of the members to report such violations.
When working under the supervision of a veterinarian in a commercial operation, technologists must be paid by employing veterinarians and not clientele: in accordance with The Veterinary Act of Saskatchewan.
PROFESSIONAL DEPORTMENT
Members shall practice humane treatment of animals at all times.
No member shall belittle or injure the character of a member of any Animal Health Technologist/ Veterinary Technologist or Veterinary Nurse Association or member of any Veterinary Medical Association.
No member shall violate the confidence of a client or their employer.
No member will violate Section 2 of the Veterinary Act of Saskatchewan.
Members shall make every effort to keep abreast with current advancements in the veterinary field.
ARTICLE IV - OBLIGATION TO THE ASSOCIATION
It is the duty of the member to reply promptly to all correspondence from the Association.
A breech of the Code of Ethics is deemed to be conduct injurious to the objectives of the Association.
A breech of this Code will result in a reprimand, fine or termination of membership.
The non-payment of a fine is deemed to conduct injurious to the objectives of the Association.
The non-payment of annual dues as outlined in By-laws shall result in termination of active membership and removal from the register.
