What do you hope to bring to the table
or describe great things you are doing:
I hope to promote the SAVT. Promote CE opportunities and help
give RVT’s the tools they need to maintain a better working
environment, better wages and an overall more enjoyable career
as a RVT. |
Personal life including pets and hobbies:
I have a German Shepherd Cross dog named Lexus, who I rescued
a few years ago and she now donates blood to save other dogs’
lives at the WCVM. I have a horse named Copper who I also adopted.
Copper is a liver-chestnut purebred Morgan gelding. He is a
wonderful horse, is very smart and is fun to ride and to work
cattle with. I also have a small herd of Purebred Hereford cows,
which I breed and show. They are all halter-broke and friendly,
and most of all, spoiled rotten. I judge livestock shows and
livestock judging competitions. In 4-H I competed in judging
competitions provincially, nationally and internationally. My
heart lives at the farm, just south of Blaine Lake, near the
North Saskatchewan River. We have cattle, horses and grain farm;
I go there whenever I can to help out. I also enjoy hunting,
camping, knitting, skiing and spending time with friends and
family. |

Saskatchewan |
Education:
- U of S Business Administration Certificate 1995
- One year of Arts and Science at U of S (1981)
|
 |
Work Experience:
- I have worked for various printing companies and ad agencies
since 1982. My experience extends from digital reproduction
of images, desktop print production and page layout, web
site updates, search engine marketing, customer service/sales
and office administration.
- Since September of 1999, I have been self employed. I
named the company St Solo Computer Graphics as my name is
Marilyn "St Marie" and I went "Solo".
In 2000, my husband became my partner in business and we
now have a talented group of employees and an office on
Duchess Street. We develop print and internet delivered
communications products for clients and have two emerging
software developments, one for the manufacturing industry
and the other, a registration software to help make events
like the SAVT easier to administer. We also have business
interests in motivia communications, a full service ad agency
and SSV Enterprises an internet hosting company.
|
Previous Board / Committee Experience:
I was initially involved with helping with registrations at
the 2007 SAVT Conference. In 2008, St Solo was the supplier
of the SAVT Conference registration application. The opportunity
became available to be involved in being the person taking
these registrations. This was a perfect fit to further develop
our software, to be involved as a client, and to work with
the SAVT Board. |
What do you hope to bring to the table
or describe great things you are doing:
I hope to streamline the registration and membership process
even more than it is already and to be able to use my print
and internet experience to reduce production costs for SAVT.
I'd like to introduce social networking to the SAVT Association
services such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter to reach out
to clinics, organizations and schools in new and interactive
ways. |
Personal life including pets and hobbies:
I probably could be described as a workaholic. I love the
people I work with and SAVT is a fun way to develop our software
in a real situation. Some day I hope to move back to my rural
roots in the area that stretches from Meota, through Cavalier
and Vawn and on to Edam. Currently I live in a big old house
on 8th street with my husband Shawn and three littermate farm
cats; Poe, Koonz and Barker. I try to get out to see my dad
every couple of weeks or so. He still lives on his farm near
Vawn. I absolutely adore getting back out in the country and
be with him every chance I get. |
