Committees


COMMITTEE OUTLINES FOR 2019

Public Relations Committee
The Public Relations Committee will focus on continuing to improve the imagine of the SAVT and RVTs at public events throughout the province, selecting merchandise items, and creating marketing items (pop-up banners, posters, etcetera). 

VTS/Mentorship Committee
The VTS/Mentorship Committee will continue to provide mentorship and guidance to new graduates, individuals who are preparing to write the VTNE, and RVTs who are changing jobs.  There are a few different programs that the committee will be responsible in overseeing in 2019 dedicated to the mentorship and advancement of (R)VTs and RVTs.  The committee will also continue to advance the understanding and awareness of specialties available to Registered Veterinary Technologists.  

Bylaw/Policy Committee
The Bylaw/Policy Committee will work on updating the SAVT policies in 2019.  The bylaw update was completed in 2018 and to ensure that the policies are in line with the bylaws 2019 will be spent ensuring they are updated appropriately.  If there is time remaining in 2019 evaluation of the Standard Operating Procedures will begin. 

Continuing Education Committee
The Continuing Education Committee will work on ensuring appropriate and elevated communication and delivery of the new Continuing Education structure that went into effect January 1, 2019.  Additionally, the Continuing Education Committee will be available to assist with other Continuing Education events throughout the province that are either initiated by or supported by the SAVT. 

Advisory Committee
The Advisory Committee is formed to provide support to the SAVT Board of Directors when required.  The Advisory Committee will be available to all SAVT Board Members to assist in situations that and instances that they are unfamiliar with and help the board make the best decision possible for the association and its members. 

Recertification Committee
The requirement to have to rewrite the VTNE after being unregistered for over three years is being evaluated in 2019.  If it is deemed to not be a requirement going forward the Recertification Committee will be responsible for creating the policy that outlines how the Association will ensure all qualified applicants to the SAVT are prepared to re-enter the veterinary medical workforce.

35th Anniversary Committee
2019 is the 35th Anniversary of the SAVT.  The 35th Anniversary Committee will work to celebrate the success of the SAVT over the last 35 years throughout 2019 and at the 35th Annual SAVT Conference.
