Location: Emerald Park, SK

Position: Permanent – Full or Part Time - RVT

Shift: Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:30pm

Salary: The salary range is $20-$30 per hour. The starting salary will commensurate with education and experience.

Primary Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to contribute to the efficient operation of Warman Veterinary Services by assisting in all aspects of office duties and veterinary assistance.

Nature of Work: Reporting to the Office Manager, the technician provides excellent client services that are consistent with the general philosophy and objectives of an RVT.  The technician also assists in all aspects of office duties. This position works in an office setting where no animals come to the facility.  This position requires some amount of lifting, moving and cleaning of equipment/work spaces.

Responsibilities include:  The technician is responsible for the completion of some in-house lab testing, the preparation of all lab sample submissions, surgical equipment sterilization, the maintenance of medical records, the maintenance of equipment/supplies, the implementation of orders issued by clients and vets, inventory in/out, and maintenance of the facility. Occasionally the technician could provide assistance to veterinarians on-farm. The incumbent will competently perform basic and introductory duties independently. The incumbent is able to adapt their skill-set to problem solve situations, which can be time sensitive, and trouble shoot challenging or unique situations through discussions with veterinarians and other qualified personnel.

Qualifications: A graduate of a recognized two or three-year veterinary technology program; and registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Association of Veterinary Technologists (SAVT).  Must hold and maintain a valid province of Saskatchewan driver’s license with good standing.

Skills: Demonstrated strong technical skills in the various fields mentioned above, effective interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written; ability to adapt to and work in a dynamic work environment maintaining a professional and positive demeanor; ability to effectively work independently as well as part of a team; ability to anticipate potential needs/problems and deal with them; demonstrated effective organizational and time management skills.
