Primary Purpose: This position is to contribute to the efficient operation of a very busy small animal clinic and provide technical assistance to associate DVMs.

Nature of Work: Reporting to the Practice Manager and participates in daily patient care; assist with surgery and patient appointments. The technician is responsible for the maintenance of equipment/supplies, handling and restraining of animals, sedation, assisting with surgical, medical and radiology procedures, maintenance of medical records, implementation of orders issued by clinicians, and maintenance of the facility. Candidate will orient and remain current with respect to safety and security procedures/policies. The candidate will competently perform basic and introductory duties independently. The candidate is able to problem solve situations, which are often time sensitive, and trouble shoot challenging or unique situations through discussions with senior technicians and other qualified personnel. The candidate will be highly motivated and take initiative to getting daily tasks completed.

Qualifications: Education: A graduate of a recognized two year veterinary technology program; and registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Association of Veterinary Technologists (SAVT).

Demonstrated experience with directing and evaluating the work of others. .

Skills: Demonstrated strong technical skills in the various fields mentioned above, effective interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written; ability to adapt to and work in a dynamic work environment maintaining a professional and positive demeanor; strong handling and safety skills for working with animals with the ability to recognize potentially dangerous situations and take appropriate action; demonstrated effective organizational and time management skills; and ability to perform heavy physical labour with restraint/care of animals and equipment. Radiography experience an asset.

Vet techs are an integral part of the practice and so much of what a practice can accomplish relies on the skills of the techs. Our team consists of five full time DVMs, seven RVTs, six CSR, 5 VAs and 1 Practice Manager. Our newly renovated clinic consists six exam rooms, two surgery suites and two dental suites. Salary: $43,680.00-$52,000.00 per year
